The Tom Tom GO 510 has a lot of features for the price. Unfortunately, I read a lot of reviews and forum posts from very unhappy customers. The main complaints are Tom Tom is a European company, and they tend to do things in a distinctly European way, such as crummy customer service. The Bluetooth doesn’t sync with all phones, so you might want to check to see if your phone will work before you buy the unit, if that’s important to you. In all fairness, GPS devices are changing so rapidly, and the market is so competitive, that manufacturers are compelled to release products perhaps before they are fully ready. That’s good for us, the consumer, because we get lower prices. It’s also bad because, much like the software industry, we get products that need further testing before being released. Tom Tom is not alone, here. I think this is just par for the course. That said, Amazon is selling these units at huge discounts, and now might really be the right time to pick up a unit with lots of features for less money.
